Sun and Play

The sun has finally come out!  I just want to remind you all to spend sometime outside playing and enjoying life.  There are multiple benefits to being outside, including getting some fresh air, vitamin D and more.

PLAY is actually something really important to our health.  I know many of us work very hard and that is great.  I would argue however, that if you want your work time to be more productive, you should definitely

include some time for leisure and play.  Even animals take time to play with each other.  I watched a video a while back of a polar bear coming to play with a chained up Husky.  He could have easily made the Husky a meal but instead decided to come back and play with the dog every day for a week.  What do you like to do for outdoor play?  Do you purposefully or spontaneously play?  When is the last time you tried something new?

While you're outside playing, you can soak up some important Vitamin D.  I'm not going to even begin to go into the in's and out's of all that is Vitamin D, but I will ask a couple questions to get you thinking...  Do you get enough sun where you live to soak up enough Vitamin D?  If not, are you taking a supplement?  Is your sunscreen really protecting you from what you think it is?  Why aren't cases of Melanoma going down if we're all using sunscreen?  I encourage you to read more from Mark Sisson here: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/vitamin-d-confounding-factors/

I'll be out playing this weekend, I encourage you to do the same!
