Poppes - Testimonial

Kips, Turkish get-ups, power-cleans and jerks are all new words to the Poppe household's vocabulary this year due to Inner-Icon! Cooked cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts and butter are new to our kitchen... (I suppose butter isn't new but it's now used guilt-free). Eating right and working out with David has changed us for the better.

Meet Ken, who played high school sports but never really spent much time in the weight room. He is now dead-lifting; back squatting, and doing push-ups and pull-ups with ease. (Until David adds more weight). A year ago, his doctor told him to reduce his stress level and begin medication for cholesterol. This year's visit, he received flying colors for managing his stress with exercise and his cholesterol levels were down considerably. He actually looks forward to working out and is the Paleo monitor in our household.

Meet Dana, a working mom. Ever since her mid-thirties and three pregnancies, she's struggled with her weight. She owns every weight-loss book printed and had tried every diet out there without success. With a history of diabetes and high blood pressure in her family and her numbers not looking good, she knew she had to do something. David took on her challenge as his own. With doctor visits, blood work, adjusting exercises, hard work and lots of unique strategies, Dana lost 30 pounds. All of her numbers are down and very manageable. Her last blood work results came back excellent! David never lost hope when Dana had!

Meet the Poppe children, Kendall, Kyle and Corbin. Kendall and Kyle attend WSU so they can only make workouts on break. Not eating very healthy and not getting enough sleep go hand and hand at school. Kendall and Kyle have taken to the Paleo lifestyle, which wasn't tough for Kyle who lives with a pile of guys who grill steak every night. Kyle budgets his groceries to include cuts of beef and fresh veggies instead of ordering out or eating Top Ramen. Kendall on the other hand got plenty of grief for cutting out milk and white rice, which are both staples of her room- mates. She tries to educate them and hasn't totally won them over but they do devour her cabbage and hamburger! Corbin is a senior in high school who takes his academics seriously but not his eating or sleeping habits. His favorite foods were pizza, skittles and root beer before meeting David. He is now "the man" at the school lunch table with all his friends. They love to see what he brings and their favorite is "steak in a bag"! David taught Cory that if you fuel your body correctly, it will go farther and work harder for you. Cory isn't perfect but he has changed his eating habits considerably. David has also pushed him to physically challenge himself. It sounds corny but it's true, Cory can jump higher and run faster because of Inner Icon. He clean and jerks over body weight, deadlifts over twice his body weight and can pull with the best of them on the rowing machine.

In closing, we'd like to thank the McLarens and Claudons for introducing us to David Weaver. He is not only our coach but he's our friend. He pushes us to make ourselves better. He's not in it for the short term but for the long term. He cares about his clients and works to help make changes. He is all about living a healthier life style and being able to get out and do the things you love. We love working out with him and love the new facility. Wynter and David make a great team and we're glad to be a part of it!

Coaches note: In a world filled with promises of quick fixes, instant change, scale obsession and a "now" mentality I have to stop and commend the Poppe family and especially Dana. Most of us have it fairly easy, if we work out and eat better, change happens pretty quickly. But can you imagine trying that and NOTHING happening?? That would be super frustrating and demoralizing right? At Inner Icon we have a policy that we expect open communication and we track your progress so we know if things aren't working. Dana has kept open communication throughout and worked harder than anyone I have ever seen. There were very, very tough weeks, and celebratory weeks, but she is in it for the long haul. Most people just give up when it gets hard, but NOT Dana. Most people would just say, "This is the way it is." Instead, Dana would say, "what's next?" I cannot say enough about what it took for her to get to where she is now. She has overcome SO much and is a BIG inspiration to what people are capable of. If you've ever seen Dana smile, it's contagious and that's the way she is. She's committed, persevered, sacrificed and climbed to achieve her goals and I am honored to know her and the whole Poppe family.

THIS is the culture of Inner Icon.
