Poppes - Testimonial

Kips, Turkish get-ups, power-cleans and jerks are all new words to the Poppe household's vocabulary this year due to Inner-Icon! Cooked cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts and butter are new to our kitchen... (I suppose butter isn't new but it's now used guilt-free). Eating right and working out with David has changed us for the better.

Meet Ken, who played high school sports but never really spent much time in the weight room. He is now dead-lifting; back squatting, and doing push-ups and pull-ups with ease. (Until David adds more weight). A year ago, his doctor told him to reduce his stress level and begin medication for cholesterol. This year's visit, he received flying colors for managing his stress with exercise and his cholesterol levels were down considerably. He actually looks forward to working out and is the Paleo monitor in our household.

Meet Dana, a working mom. Ever since her mid-thirties and three pregnancies, she's struggled with her weight. She owns every weight-loss book printed and had tried every diet out there without success. With a history of diabetes and high blood pressure in her family and her numbers not looking good, she knew she had to do something. David took on her challenge as his own. With doctor visits, blood work, adjusting exercises, hard work and lots of unique strategies, Dana lost 30 pounds. All of her numbers are down and very manageable. Her last blood work results came back excellent! David never lost hope when Dana had!

Two great ladies came to work out and get in shape about 6 weeks ago.  One is in her 60's and the other in college.  They both made amazing changes, but I'm going to focus on the lady in

Brent's Saggy Pants

My journey started a few years ago with an ailing neck and back caused by being rear ended in my truck.  First came the spine specialist, followed by massage therapy, physical therapy, a few cortisone shots, acupuncture, more physical therapy, a nerve block procedure, 1 pain therapist session (Which made me think, what in the world am I doing here?), ok back to more physical therapy.  It didn't help that I had a sedentary occupation.  When I started core exercise training, I started feeling better.  Oops, not again!  Now comes the sprained ankle, which got my old injury going again due lack of exercise.  Yep, back to spine specialist, physical therapy, and more core training I went.

All these injuries and too much sitting on the couch watching Jersey Shore caused me to gain a "few" pounds here and there.  At this point I'm ready for some new surroundings besides the doctor's office and ready to commit myself to getting back in shape.

Some workouts I considered:  P90x:  I'm sure Mr. Muscle Confusion has some great workouts but honestly how can you push yourself at home when it's much easier to kick back on the couch.  Regular gyms:  Tons of equipment you'll never use...BORING.  Crossfit Gyms:  Many Crossfit gyms opening up all over with similar exercise programs.  I'm sure the workouts are great but the large class sizes lost my interest.
One day I came across the Auburn Reporter and read about InnerIcon.  I decided to give them a try and endedup meeting friendly, knowledgeable people.  At InnerIcon I found not only great trainers but also other groups of people looking to live healthy lifestyles and have fun motivating each other while working out.

In just 6 months I went from 201 lbs to 165 lbs and I feel great!

My medical procedures have been replaced with hiking, biking, wakeboarding, and snowboarding.  All fixed up!  Now, I just need to worry about replacing these saggy pants!

Thanks David and Wynter for helping me close one book and start a new one.  Wallballs, burpees, run, row, deadlift.  I love it!

Coaches note: During test week Brent finally got his chance to test his 2000M row. Upon passing his row his also completed and passed  all his Level 1 skills! He has now moved on to the Level 2 chart, congrats Brent!

Ironman Coeur d'Alene June 26, 2011

We arrived in Coer d’Alene, Idaho on Thursday, June 23, 2011.  Katie, Jalynn, Braden, Ariel and Lexi were all with me.  As we drove around the lake, I was quickly reminded of how huge and awesome the lake is.  There was a cloud cover and we could see white caps on the water.  The resort is beautiful.  We quickly settled in and Amy and I put on our wetsuits and went down to the lake for a practice swim.  Oh my gosh…the lake is freezing!  54 degrees!  It took me only 4 minutes for my face and feet to go numb.  Zachary tried to swim without a wetsuit…he dove in and quickly returned to shore.  Amy and I swam for 20 minutes, and then joined Zachary, Braden, Ariel, Jalynn & Lexi at the pool.  We all had dinner and then went to bed for our next big day in Coer d’Alene.

Claudons - Testimonial

What a difference a year makes!

(The Claudon Family - Ron, Nicole, Jaclynn, Lorianne, Bryant)

In 2010 Lorianne and I hit the “big five oh”. We were recovering from a lousy 2009; we lost both of our fathers and business wasn’t that good.  We were trying not to feel sorry for ourselves.  Lorianne and I were managing to get a few workouts in a week.  I have been a regular on the basketball court or the YMCA pool since I was in my 20’s.  I also have played competitive sports for over 40 years and was recently starting to wonder when I would have to give it up.

Then our good friends Pam and Gordy wrote a nice letter about David and Wynter.  They told how much they enjoyed the personalized attention they received at Inner Icon.  However the comment that really got my attention was when Gordy, who I have been playing basketball with since I was 7, said that he was about ready to give up playing until he began working out at Inner Icon.  I decided to meet with David.
